The under cabinet range hood is usually found on the wall of the kitchen. This is where a range of food is cooked. With the kitchen being one of the busiest rooms in the house, a hood placed on the wall is a good idea.
The first step is to find a hood that will fit your kitchen wall properly. In most cases the hood will be made of the same material as the cabinet.
Once you have found the correct length, you will have to measure the height of your wall. If the wall is already installed then there is no need to drill holes. If the wall has been installed then you will have to drill the appropriate holes. You can either do this yourself or hire a professional.
When buying the insert range hood for the wall mount, you should always ensure that it fits properly and that there is adequate clearance to allow the insert to fit properly. If the installation is done by a professional then you should check and see that the insert is secure to the wall.
Once you have taken care of the installation then you will have to decide if you would rather have the insert fitted permanently. This is a much cheaper option and the installation process can be completed in about half the time of having the range hood fitted permanently. There are two different methods of installation, which are referred to as either full or half hanging. Full hanging means that the insert will sit flush with the wall, whilst half hanging means that the insert will be flush with the wall only if the hood is screwed through the ceiling.
The next decision that has to be made is whether you want to have the wall mount range hood as an integral part of the cabinet. This can either be done or not depending on your budget. If you decide to have the hood integrated into the cabinet then you will have to buy the insert separately. If you choose not to have it integrated then the hood will sit on top of the cabinet and will not be removable.
If you decide to have the hood integrated then you will have to make a few decisions as to which style of insert you want. The most popular style is the one that is mounted on the ceiling and comes complete with the wall mount range hood.
A disadvantage of having the hood integrated into the cabinet is that it will make the room look larger and that the wall mount range hood. will block the view. You can also be forced to move the range hood if the weather is bad. which will be a good thing if you have a large kitchen but not so much if you have a smaller one.
It is worth also to bear in mind that if you have a wall mount range hood it will be a lot cooler in the kitchen and you will need to buy some fans to help with this. If the range hood is integrated into the cabinet then it will be a lot cooler because you will not have to remove it to take it off to move it out of the way.
Many people prefer to have the under cabinet range hoods installed permanently and this is a much more expensive option. However, the benefits of having this kind of hood are that it is secure to the wall and the fit is more secure. therefore the hood is not visible from outside.
If you decide to have the under cabinet range hood installed permanently then you can also choose to have the range hood fitted permanently to the wall by a professional. The price is slightly higher than buying it as a permanent component.
When deciding which option is best for you then take a look around at the various models on offer and then choose the one that meets your needs. This will be a great investment as the hood will be safe and provide you with years of trouble free service.
